Responding to the concern of DepEd Usec Lino Rivera for the plight of Public School Teachers in Tacloban and Palo, Leyte, who daily had the added burden of wading through thick mud left behind by Typhoon Yolanda storm surges; Tanging Yaman Foundation arranged for the timely delivery of 2,000 pairs of rubber boots for said field personnel and teachers.
(As with most relief items sent to the affected regions, the rubber boots also became the subject of pilferage and theft such that the acknowledgement receipt from DepEd Region 8 shows only 1,932 rubber boots received by them. A deficit of 68 pairs).
